Easter is only a few days away and although celebrating may look a little different this year (ie. social-distancing) you can still indulge in those fun Easter traditions. Traditions that include decorating Easter eggs! Over the past few years, I have created a few Easter egg DIYs. And yes, it just so happens that they all follow tropical themes. So this year, I thought I would do a round-up post of those tropical Easter egg decorating ideas. So let’s get to it and check ’em out!
Pineapple Easter Eggs
Back in 2018, I was given the opportunity to create a Hawaii-themed Easter egg for Food Network Magazine. The feature showcased Easter eggs from all 50 states, each made by different artists and bloggers from that state. This one is probably the most difficult Easter egg DIY I’ve done, but totally manageable with a little patience.
I used little sparkly gems in varying sizes to create the outside of the pineapple and cut paper strips for the top. See what you might already have at home to make your own pineapple easter egg and see out how I created mine here.
Hula Girl Easter Eggs
The hula girl easter eggs were my first Easter egg DIY. I would say these are pretty easy to create, I had my 9 year old helping me at the time and hers were just as good as mine. We used the hula girl tissue paper but you could really theme these however you’d like.
All you really have to do is cut out the figures and elements from the tissue paper and use some Mod Podge to essentially paint the pieces on the egg. See all the steps here.
Wahine Easter Eggs
These wahine eggs are super simple to make and take no time at all. You can get as fancy as you want for the faces, I kept them really minimal but you could really have some fun with them.
For the haku lei, I used an interesting garland blend of fabric I found but you could also use ribbon with mini flowers. Its really whatever you can find at the craft store or even at home. I could even see these made with little flowers cut out of simple construction paper. Check out the step-by-steps here.
So which do you see yourself doing? If you do try one out, I’d love to see the result! Happy Easter everyone. Aloha!

April 9, 2020 at 4:12 AMThese are great ideas! I love the modpodge on the hula eggs. I was thinking “I can’t draw like that” but I bet I could modpodge them on there without a problem!
