Thank you UBTECH’s JIMU Robot for sponsoring this post. JIMU Robot kits are a fun way to bring robotics into every kid’s day to day. The system relies on three steps: Building, Coding, and Playing. Robot kits from UBTECH offer a wide variety of challenging builds for the curious children in your lives. With JIMU Robot, kids 8+ can engage in STEM learning with their award-winning interactive robotic building block system!
I’m always on the lookout for fun activities that I can do with my daughters. With the goal of keeping minds stimulated and boredom at bay, it can sometimes be hard to figure out what to do next. Well, I’ve absolutely found a solve for that. JIMU Robot from UBTECH Robotics.
JIMU Robot
JIMU Robot is an exciting line of robots that kids (and adults) can have fun building, coding and playing with. They come in different series ranging from mythical creatures to sports-themed competitive robots, there really is something for everyone.
We received the JIMU Robot: FireBot Kit, and I have to say it’s pretty amazing. Now, my daughter has a few years of Robotics Team under her belt, and she was still challenged with this build. I happily played “robotics apprentice” to her “master builder” role. Building the FireBot was a great opportunity to problem solve and build with my kiddo and we really had some great fun along the way.
What Comes in the Kit
In the kit you will find everything you need to build an amazing FireBot Dragon. Parts are well organized and as long as you follow the detailed instructions, you should be fine. You download the JIMU app to your phone and are guided step-by-step through the whole build process. I loved how detailed the app instructions are, including the ability to zoom, rotate and change up the 3-D view of how individual parts are assembled. We took full advantage of that feature.
How long did it take to build?
It took us a few hours to build the FireBot. In my opinion, unless your child is a bit older and has extensive experience building robots, this is not an activity you leave them alone to tackle. It took the two of us, following the instructions, step-by-step. There are a lot of parts, some of them super tiny, so organization is also key. There were a few times that we realized we put a similar looking part in the wrong place and had to return to rebuild that area, so always double check you are using the right pieces (the app really helps with this!). It is truly worth the effort though, to put together this robotic mythical creature. Your child (and you!) will be so proud of yourselves when you are done!
Building, coding and playing with the FireBot really transports you to a magical world. You’re able to code actions such as the LED light in FireBot’s snout to glow fiery red or program the touch sensor on FireBot’s chest to make the dragon drive fluidly while flapping it’s customizable wings. So very cool!
A Perfect Holiday Gift
If you’re looking for a unique gift this holiday season, that also checks some strong education boxes, then a JIMU Robot is a great choice for any child ages 8 and up. The FireBot is available at your local Target as well as online at: Target.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Kohls.com, Samsclub.com, Walmart.com and Ubtrobot.com
And in addition to being a great gift, it’s also a fantastic way to spend some quality time with your family. Get everyone together for a fun night of building. Especially as winter approaches, it’s key to have some stimulating activities cued up. And I’m always happy when fun at home can help reinforce the importance of STEM learning with my girls.
