Style Staples for Cooler Weather: Get Cozy This Fall

Aloha Lovely Hoodies

Fall is here and it’s the perfect time to add some more cozy to your wardrobe. Although Hawaii will always have my heart weather-wise, I do also adore New England in the fall. We’re talking comfort here, soft fabric layering, wonderful textures and pieces that translate easily to even colder weather. Here are some of my current style staples for cooler weather.

Overalls

I am a big fan of overalls, during almost all seasons. I currently have two pair (although I regularly resist adding another pair). I have one lighter-weight pair more suited to spring, sometimes summer, and fall, and then one heavier-weight pair that is best suited for fall and winter.

Overalls Via Amazon

These were an Amazon purchase a couple of years ago and I wear them almost weekly. These are lighter weight and so comfy! I got them in this “brick red” color, although the actual color is a little lighter than what is shown above. I ordered a size up for some extra roominess (just a personal preference) Find them here.

Patagonia Iron Forge Overalls

The Patagonia overalls above were a little bit of a splurge and are heavier-weight. I cannot wear these in the summer and am looking forward to wearing them more this fall and winter. They are made of hemp and I’m told they’ll get softer the more you wear them. Love the color and the style of the straps. These are more structured than the Amazon ones.

Super Soft Sweatshirts

Looking for the softest hoodies and crewnecks? I’ve got you! Just released in the shop are three new hoodie designs. Along with a few other Aloha Lovely regulars you’re bound to find something new for your wardrobe.

To me, the feel of the fabric is just as important as the design. These sweatshirts are super soft and cozy while also being lightweight. They come in unisex sizing.

Vests

Vests are another cooler weather favorite of mine. I love to layer with different pieces of varying warmth depending on the time of year. I’m still in love with my current Patagonia vest, although it’s no longer available online. Here are a few others I’m lusting after this season.

Flannel Shirts

We couldn’t forget this timeless piece. You’ll find them everywhere, in all different colors and patterns. Over the past few years I’ve been looking for flannel shirts of higher quality, that although pricier, will stand the test of time. Here is my current favorite along with a couple of others.

earl plaid in holcomb

This is not the exact one I have as I bought mine a couple of seasons ago but it is the same style and of similar colors. This is an investment as far as flannel shirts go but for the quality and comfort I think it’s worth it. It’s an heirloom-type piece that you could one day hand down to your child.

Outerknown Women’s Blanket Shirt

This Outerknown blanket shirt has been calling my name! Another pricy option, although not as much as the previous one. Outerknown boasts of even more sustainable manufacturing. I love the unique color ways, its hard to choose which one to invest in.

So that’s what I’ve got today. Some of my favorite style staples for cooler weather. Looking for even more fall style inspo? Check out this post on 5 Best Boots for Fall.

All the suggestions are interesting. In the fall and winter I like to wear wool sweaters and vests, they are very warm and comfortable to use.
