How and when did lunchtime get so adorable!? I’m just loving all the different lunch packing options out there. Getting the right system to pack your kiddos lunch can help inspire what you pack. In fact, there are some great options for us adults as well. So let’s get into it and have some lunchtime fun!
A Simple, Healthy and Fun Approach to Lunch
I thought I would share my favorite lunch packing approach. It’s getting your kids to handle it! I’m a believer in allowing my girls some independence in packing their own lunches. I’ll provide the healthy options and they can pack away!
First of all, I try to keep my fridge stocked with fresh fruit and veggies for lunch packing as well as snacking. I’m not super strict and will also include crackers and other similar snacks as options, as long as the majority of items are whole foods. One of my favorite ways for them to pack their lunch is in a bento style.
Bentos, Boxes and Bags
All you really need are some plastic containers and silicone baking cups. There are some adorable bento boxes out there that are stackable with little carrying straps. We were able to get a lot of use out of these Studio Ghibli 2-Tier Bento Lunch Boxes. Now that my girls are a bit older, they consume more and need larger containers, but the approach remains the same.

I love giving them the freedom to chose what they want and they know my expectations as far as healthy food choices go. When they were younger it was like a fun game for them to put together their lunches and you know what, it helped me out too!
Stylish Lunch Bentos and Bags for Adults
There are a lot of fun options out there for adults as well. Check out all of these adorable stacked bentos. Some even have coordinating bags. Lunchtime is getting quite chic! And I love the designs you can find on even the most basic insulated bags.

This kind of packaging can really inspire some great lunch prep. Lately, I’ve been meal prepping for the entire week so I haven’t been indulging in something so stylish for myself. I’ve been using these containers for my meal preps, but I’ll share more on that in another post. 🙂
I’d love to hear how you approach lunch prep for your kiddos or even for yourself. Let me know in the comments below. Aloha!
