It’s now almost two years into my journey of transforming Aloha Lovely from blog to brand and if there is one overarching piece of advice I can give any new business owner that’s building a brand, is to be prepared to pivot. You may start out approaching your business one way, only to find out that what you thought would work, isn’t going as planned. What will you do when those moments arise?
Building a Business is Hard
The above headline might sound like an obvious statement but did you know that almost 20% of new businesses fail in the first year? And according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, nearly 50% of new businesses won’t last 5 years. I mention this to simply point out that starting a new business is hard, no matter what kind of business you have. And the ways that it’s hard, is different for every single entrepreneur out there. The longevity and success of your business really depend on how you navigate those unique challenges.
Let’s Talk About It
The importance of being able to pivot while building your brand or business is actually one of the focuses of my recent podcast interview with Katerina Burianova, creator of From the Honeycomb podcast. Katerina and I chatted about Aloha Lovely’s evolution from blog to brand and the challenges faced over the last few years. It was such a pleasure to be a guest on Katerina’s podcast and I’m excited to give a glimpse in some of the behind-the-scenes of what it takes to grow a brand. I plan to create more content that focuses on some behind-the-scenes stories of building the brand of Aloha Lovely and more generally about my journey as a small business owner and creator. Of course in the meantime, you can always check out what’s new in the Shop or visit me over on the socials. Aloha!
