Last month, was our 14th wedding anniversary. Yes, 14. Which as I type it feels kinda crazy. A lot has happened in 14 years, many military moves, a couple of kids, a few jobs and a wide range of ups and downs. To mark the occasion this year, we decided to book a night away, just the two of us!
I’ve been wanting to check out this new boutique hotel in Waikiki called Alohilani Resort and thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I found a great rate directly on the Alohilani site for a one-night stay. Lately, I’ve been finding the best hotel rates directly on the hotel’s website.
We arrived at Alohilani right at the 3pm check-in time and were instantly impressed with the modern and spacious lobby. A super high ceiling and gorgeous coral wall sculpture were a couple of highlights. The design is simple and elegant, a space where you can really breathe and sink into the relaxation to come.

Premier Ocean Front Room
We checked-in and managed to get an upgrade to a premier ocean front room! Check-in literally took 5 minutes. Once in our room, we were again impressed by the clean interior design and of course the stunning view. The neutrals in the room really allow the crystal blue colors of the ocean to pop. The room felt luxurious but approachable.
Swell Pool at Alohilani
After enjoying the view from the room (as well as a few beers), we headed down to the pool to grab some snacks and a few more drinks. The pool area is impressive as well, with plenty of seating, cabanas, and tables. The style is fresh and modern, but again, approachable and comfortable. We sat at the bar for a bit and munched on some snacks. Later, we lounged by the infinity pool which has views of Waikiki beach as well as the surrounding cityscape.
Overall, we really enjoyed our short stay at Alohilani Resort. It was definitely too short, as I am finding one-night stays to really not be enough to sink into the relaxing state I desire. The design of the property, quality of service and attention to detail all help to elevate this new boutique hotel above other Waikiki properties. I will definitely be back soon for a more extended stay. Aloha!
