Your bedroom should be your escape, a peaceful sanctuary, your very own relaxing chill zone where you can recharge to your fullest. Which is why it’s important that you consider some key ideas when creating that space. In this
1. Clean up the Clutter
Clutter in the bedroom can be a real deterrent when you’re trying to relax. I think the bedroom might actually be one of the most important rooms in the house to keep tidy. The key is to stay on top of the clutter and to have a way to easily tidy up when you need to.
Start by putting away clothes strewn about. I find that clothes in my bedroom often collect at the end of the bed. Next, clear off and organize the tops of nightstands and bureaus. Use pretty containers to organize small items and find a place to neatly stack books or magazines. You’ll be surprised how refreshing it feels to clear the clutter, it really helps to de-stress and free up the mind.
2. Keep it Cool
The National Sleep Foundation suggests the ideal bedroom temperature be somewhere between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal sleep. Your body temperature decreases when preparing to snooze, so keeping the bedroom relatively cool will help. Add a fan or crack open up a window to get the temperature just right.
3. Upgrade your Mattress
There are a lot of options out there to help you find the perfect mattress. Memory foam, pillow top, gel, the list goes on. If your bed is becoming saggy or lumpy in areas, it’s definitely time for a new mattress.
There are also options to create even more of an experience with your mattress, such as the addition of an adjustable bed frame. You can really find the right fit for your unique sleeping style to include extra perks like massage technology, USB ports and even under bed lighting!
4. Bring in Nature
In addition to adding a bit of earthy beauty to your bedroom, certain plants can actually help you sleep better. Plants such as orchids, succulents
5. Make it Calm & Cozy
Ideally, you want your bedroom decor to promote calm. Many people say to go with cooler colors on the wall, like blues. With lighting, try using a dimmer on overhead lights and perhaps add a few lamps to create a relaxing vibe. Be sure to use warm light bulbs for an inviting glow.
With bedding,
So there you go, 5 ways to help transform your bedroom into a sleep oasis. Ultimately it all depends on your own personal needs to figure out the details. But rest assured that the payoff will be huge when you achieve the right balance. Pleasant dreams!
