I’m so excited to finally introduce a few new items to the Shop. I’ve added five new pieces to the collection. A super cute pencil skirt, two accent pillows and two new tote bags. I have so many ideas swimming around in my head that sometimes it seems hard to accomplish anything. But here we go!

How do you sum up your home style? Are you modern, eclectic, or maybe more traditional? If I had to define my home decor taste I would have to say it falls somewhere in the realm of post modern and beach chic. I love light colored walls and beadboard paneling but also dig 1960’s styling with clean lines and poppy colors. So for today’s post I thought I would share a room that I think encompasses both post modern and beach chic styling. Welcome to our living room.
I find that I gravitate towards clean, bright spaces that are infused with eclectic art and sentimental family pieces. You can see here that there is a bit of a balancing act going on. It’s clean without feeling sterile and homey without feeling cluttered. Since this is one of two living room areas in the house, I felt that with this space we could refine the area a bit. I wanted it comfy but to also have a “front sitting room” sort of feel, this is probably the most formal area in our home.
When we first purchased this house the previous owners had installed carpet in this area. That was one immediate change we wanted to make. We installed a thick, distressed, wood laminate. It has a sort of rustic quality to it that I love. It has now been over two years since we installed it and it’s holding up great!
Another piece that works well in the space is my grandfather’s old record player. Not only does it hold sentimental value, but it fits in perfect with everything else. Now to just get it working again.
So what do you think? Would you call this room “Beachy Post Modern”? What’s your home style? What’s your favorite space in your home and why? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Aloha!

Today I am sharing a few living room pieces that I currently lust after. If I had to define my home aesthetic, I would say its a mix of beach cottage chic and post modern style. I purchased a sofa very similar to the one featured when we first moved into our home. I love the sleek structured lines, the vibrant turquoise and smooth linen texture.
I also have two art prints by Everything is Jake designer Nick Kuchar, framed and hanging on my living room wall. His style has a retro, pop sort of flair that adds a bit of flavor to any space. The graphic pillow adds the perfect sarcastic tone to the mix. I love a little bit of sass, it keeps things real as well as on the light side. As far as the hanging chair, well, although I don’t possess one yet, I just had to include it. I mean who doesn’t want to swing from the ceiling?
